Lucas Campbell Wood Turning

I began turning wood about 3 years ago and haven't stopped since.  I love to select my own wood from the land I grew up on in the woods of Vermont as well as any interesting logs I find in my travels which include Maine and Maryland.  Some of the types of wood I enjoy working with are Cherry, Mahogany, Maple, and Elm.  I love to work with the coloring and rings of the wood to create interesting patterns in the bowls and other wood products that I turn.  Natural edge bowls are one of my specialties that have the tree's bark along the rim of the bowl.

I create bowls and other wood products on commission.  If you would be interested in having me create a custom made wood product for you please contact me.  My aim is to push the boundaries of effective design, and explore the link between the functional and aesthetic components of a work of art made out of wood.  I would like to talk with you about your vision for a wood creation that I could have the honor of making for you.  Please browse through the site to see a selection of my work to give you some ideas.

I am currently a full-time student in Castine Maine at Maine Maritime Academy.  When I am not in school, sailing or rock climbing, you can usually find me in Blackwood's woodshop turning on most weekends.    I am also a member of The American Association of Woodturners
